HOD's Message
Welcome to the Department of Oral Pathology at Dayananda Sagar College of Dental Sciences.
Set in the heart of Bengaluru, our College & Hospital offers a spectacular location and environment for clinical care, investigation and education.
Our Department harbors the dual responsibility of advancing the practice of evidence based Oral Pathology to benefit patient care, while at the same time pursuing a greater understanding of the underlying disease through required investigations. The Department is broadly caters to three major thrust areas of teaching & research: Dental Anatomy with Oral Histology, Oral Pathology, and Forensic Odontology.
Our faculty are engaged in the education and mentoring of Dental Undergraduates in the first three years & also Postgraduate students. We also guide students in our Department during a 2 week rotatory internship in order to become more familiar with the practice of Oral Pathology and its substantial impact on clinical care & with Forensic odontology with its impact on crime & many legal angles within the society.
Our faculty provide an investigative environment for the training of dental students, and postgraduates in many areas ranging from Oral Cancer & Precancer, Odontogenic Pathology to Forensic Odontology. The Department is proud to inform that we have various running Scientific Research grants with various State & National bodies within the focus areas or Oral Cancers & Forensic Odontology.
The Department is only one of a kind which has actively worked with many State Government bodies in the area of Forensic Dentistry. We also have a unique observership & training program of one week duration at the state of the art hospital & Forensic Medicine Department in CDSIMER, our sister institution for all our students during their internship.
